Excel Unit Costing Sheet finally works!
Submitted by Stan Ascher on Wed, 02/24/2010 - 10:11Attached to this post is an excel spreadsheet that determines how to figure costs per unit of service in a multi-service program.
The trick was taking administration into the cost.
I had to create a formula that takes the total costs of doing business, subtract administration costs, divide the cost of a particular service and multiply that by the total administration cost in order to assign the correct proportion of administrative costs that particular service...
Reworking a learning portal
Submitted by Stan Ascher on Sun, 02/21/2010 - 22:05In an effort to rework a poorly built moodle installation, I have begun rebuilding an SSTAP site in Moodle.
The more I have taken the time to learn the basics of Moodle, the more flexible I have realized the application really is.
Here are are some trouble spots, though,
Windows Media Player issue with Composica
Submitted by Stan Ascher on Wed, 02/03/2010 - 00:12Today, I came across a project built in Composica that had a functionality problem.
There was no way to keep the narration muted throughout the whole project. Every time a user went to a new page, they would have to re-mute the narration.
The narration files were attached to Windows Media Player objects embedded in each page and placed in a bottom toolbar.

Creating a flash based learning exercise
Submitted by Stan Ascher on Tue, 02/02/2010 - 21:12We are working with a client to build a tutorial about prescription drug abuse. The material is being put on a custom-built LMS, but it holds flash files on the page.
The file attached has nine buttons installed that represent answers to the question- three of which are correct.
All nine buttons are movie objects.
The first is the file that is built in Flash 4, the second is the file that plays in the browser.
Rebuilding a Moodle site
Submitted by Stan Ascher on Wed, 01/27/2010 - 20:57In the course of our in e-learning, we have to find a home for all the neat little modules that we build in Composica and Adobe Captivate.
Enter Moodle.
I first started messing around with Moodle as a means to impress my current employer. After spending some time messing around with two installations that we have, I was able to build a functional portfolio site of my own.
But as times change and employees leave, I am left with the task of improving upon what they left behind.
